Disney Children's Hospital Set For Opening

The Walt Disney World Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children will soon officially open its doors in Orlando, making sick kids feel like they're much closer to the happiest place on Earth.

The 200-bed facility, which is connected to Florida Hospital's main campus, feels nothing like a typical hospital.

Disney characters, like Simba and Flounder, can be found in the lobby; "The Little Mermaid's" waterfall flows and elephants roam in Africa on the Lion King floor.

"You almost forget where you're at, and that's exactly what we want kids to feel when they come in here," said Connie Seybert, whose 9-year-old son battled leukemia at the hospital. "It's like, 'Oh, where did you bring me mom? I thought we were going to the hospital.' No, this is Disney."

That sounds neat. But wouldn't want to be sick enough as a child to get in there. For those that are ill, it provides that touch of Disney they may be longing for.
