What are universal orlando resorts like?

With the price of the disney resorts going up all the time some of the universal ones look good value. Has anyone stayed there?

We have! We've stayed at the Royal Pacific several times. It is my favorite of the Universal resorts. It is like an upscale version of the Polynesian IMO. We stayed once at Portofino Bay and liked it as well. I haven't even stepped foot at the Hard Rock, it is usually booked.

It's a short walk or water taxi over to the parks. The front of the line perk cannot be beat! Well worth the money. I have an AP and can get really good hotel discounts as well. AAA (AA in the UK) also provides good discounts.
