Universal Studios Hollywood is adding a new ride called Transformers – The Ride 3D. The entertainment giant made the announcement at Pow Wow, taking place in San Francisco this week, and bosses said the new attraction would be open by the time Pow Wow 2012 takes place in Los Angeles next April.

The new attraction will be based on the 1.6 billion dollar movie Transformers movie franchise, and will be created with the help of Transformers producer, Michael Bay. It will also feature the voices of the films’ original actors, which is “crucial to delivering an authentic attraction,” said Mark Woodbury, president of Universal Creative for Universal Parks & Resorts.

Transformers – the Ride 3D will be a simulator attraction, with cars travelling for a quarter of a mile, and rising 60ft in the air. The ride will last for five minutes, and 20-30 minutes of story telling will be built into the queueing time, similar to the way it is done at Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, the signature attraction at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Universal Orlando Resort.
