Disney introduce Okapi to AKL
Disney's Animal Care team has welcomed Okapi to the resort's animal population. The new animals are becoming acclimated to their new surroundings and will be visible to Members and Guests when the new Pembe Savanna opens as part of the second phase of Kidani Village currently scheduled for September 2009.
The Okapi is a mammal living in the Ituri Rainforest in the north east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in central Africa. Although it bears striped markings reminiscent of the zebra, it is most closely related to the giraffe.

Re: Disney introduce Okapi to AKL
Oh, I love the okapi. I find them truly fascinating. I could watch them for hours. They are such handsome creatures...wouldn't you agree?
Do you know that with their long blue tongue, they can clean inside their own ears!
It will be great to see them when we go to Boma for dinner.
