Orlando sales tax?
Ok this one always kinda catches me out since in the UK we have our sales tax in the price advertised where as it's extra in the states.
So, what's the sales tax at the moment in "orlando" ? and knowing its different in different counties? is it the same at the florida mall as the millenia mall?
For small stuff it doesnt matter but if I get carried away, and I usually do, in the apple store, it can make a big difference

Re: Orlando sales tax?
I think it's 6% and it would be the same in the Florida Mall and Mall at Millenia. It's the states that have the different tax rates.

Re: Orlando sales tax?
see 6% is less than I thought it was! and the reason I was pondering the malls is that I thought I once heard that all stars was a different rate to the other hotels because it was in a different area of Florida.
...but I could be misremembering
so it's 6% at both malls for sure?

Re: Orlando sales tax?
the sales tax is 6% but I think they can add a local tax as well but I don't know how much that is

Re: Orlando sales tax?
I've looked on the web and there is a lot about it.
It says that the Florida sales tax rate is 6% and but local counties can take the maximum FL sales tax after local surtaxes which is 7.5%.
Tink will be able to answer for sure.

Re: Orlando sales tax?
It varies not only from county to county, but from city to village to other types of municipalities. A local government can add tax.
It's a miserable system. Also, items have different tax rates, from some foods that have none, to "luxury items" that have a higher rate. Then there is the bed tax rate, the tourist rate, the airport surcharge (rental cars are more at the airport).
I know I'm not much help, but the Mall at Millenia and the Florida Mall are in the same county, the same city district and should have the same tax rate.Thank you for being a member of our Secrets Family!!! We are so very pleased to have you with us!

Re: Orlando sales tax?
Thanks Tink
that does help and I think it says that if I want to know, I need to find a receipt or call em
Even with sales tax, card currency conversion fees etc. I'm still seeing an advantage to apple stuff over there

Re: Orlando sales tax?
I want the not-yet-existant 15inch macbook pro/air. The one that's going to be like a pro but thinner (or like an air but slightly thicker
) we don't know yet!
Macbook pro 15 is what I've used for years, love the screen size. Never use the DVD.
So the macbook air 13" is brilliant. Size/weight, speed wow. BUT I really loved my 15" screen.
I'm REALLY expecting an announcement that they'll either do a 15" air or more likely, a 15" pro without the dvd and in a thinner form although probably not QUITE as sleek as the 13".
With sales tax, credit card and various other things, I reckon it'll still be a good £300 cheaper over there.
