Pirates of the Caribbean Strands Guests

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) – Visitors to Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom park told FOX 35 News that they were stranded on a popular ride for more than an hour.

Passengers who were riding the Pirates of the Caribbean water ride late Sunday evening tell us the incident happened around 10:30 p.m. They said the ride stopped running, and they were told to remain on the ride for almost two hours before they were allowed to exit.

Disney officials said attempts were made to automatically restart the ride, and when that didn’t work, staff had to manually bring the ride back into operation. Disney also says that there were no serious injuries.

Park officials have offered an apology to all park goers who were affected and we’ll work on a case by case basis to try to make up for the inconvenience. Disney says there have not been any major mechanical issues with the ride in the past.

I know that I would have had to go potty in those two hours and surely would have been a nightmare.

surely theres some way of getting off the boat and out of there? i wouldve thought there would be cus of fires etc?

We got stuck on pirates in Tokyo Disney many years ago - not much fun when we weren't told what was happening and they left the music playing. Luckily it was 2 hours for us though more like 10 minutes, that was long enough though.

My daughter would have had a major panic attack if she was stuck on the ride for 2 hours. We were in MK last week and my wife and kids were on Big Thunder Mountain when it got stuck. They actually had to be escorted off of the ride and walked down the mountain. They werent stuck for a long time, maybe 15 minutes or so. They each received a fastpass to use on anyride in the park. We also got stuck on Haunted Mansion for about twenty minutes that same night.
