New York, do we need to book in advance...
We have tickets for a couple of Broadway shows but do we need to book in advance for the likes of Empire State Building, Top of the Rock, Ground Zero, Rockefeller Centre etc?

Having never been to NY I can't offer much help. However, Butterhead, who is one of NYC's Finest might be able to help you.

I can't help much either.

I do know that you need to reserve a visitors pass for the 9/11 Memorial in advance. They're free and can be reserved for a specific date and time through the 9/11 Memorial site.

... good luck!)

It was a few years since we were in NY, but at the time we could just walk right into the Empire State Building & take the elevator to the top.

When we went a couple of years ago I don't think you could reserve tickets for the empire state building. I would say get there as early as possible to minimise your wait. We never did top of the rock so can't help much there.
To be able to go up to the crown of the statue of liberty you can turn up but there is no guarantee you will get up there. We reserved tickets - allow plenty of time though to get through security before getting on the ferry.

Re: New York, do we need to book in advance...
I may not be much help here due to the fact that I haven't been to the empire state building since I was a kid and have never been to the top of the rock. I have seen people lined up outside of both buildings. I doubt you would need to make reservations in advance for any of those locations. I havent been to the 911 museum( too painful) but for some reason i don't believe that it is free, if you are going there I would definitely look into purchasing tickets way in advance since you will be here during that time of year.
I just looked at the 911 website and saw that is in fact free. That is great.19 Trips and Counting
