Help with a Washington DC Hotel Please.
I am looking into booking a short break to Washington and then onto NYC via Amtrak and was looking for some recommendations for a decent hotel in Washington. I will be travelling with my 70 year old mother so we need a room with 2 beds and would like it to be in an area not too far from the main tourist sites. Will be arriving Saturday lunchtime and then getting a train on Monday morning. Am expecting to get a hop on, hop off bus on the Sunday so we can whizz round.......any tips anyone????
Help much appreciated,
Thanks

Washington is on our wish list of "maybe one day" so I can't really help and if I start looking I'll start nagging my hubby

Uscwest may be able to help with some suggestions for you.
Not much help really am I

Re: Help with a Washington DC Hotel Please.
I was hoping someone better informed would come along

I have stayed in Washington and love the place but always tend to stay at the Sheriton Premiere at tysons corner because the Mall is so close

Im absolutely sure there are more touristy friendly ones though. I tend to stay at the sheriton for business too which is how I found it

Re: Help with a Washington DC Hotel Please.
What exactly do you want to see in DC? There are tons of things to see and do and since you have such limited time, you need a plan of action. I would choose a hotel near a Metro line. This link has a map of where some hotels are and is good for a quick reference: http://www.roomrate.com/Smithsonian-...ate=washington
Hotels should be cheaper on the weekend since most business people will have left.I am a travel agent with The Magic For Less Travel. Please private message me if you'd like help booking a trip!

Re: Help with a Washington DC Hotel Please.
First of all the Sheraton Tyson's Corner is WAY too far away to even think of staying at. How much are you wanting to spend? As Johnie says there are several hotels that will have reduced rates on the weekends. Crystal City in VA has lots of hotels and a metro stop nearby most of them.

Re: Help with a Washington DC Hotel Please.
Thanks for the comments, we think we may book The Liaison, Capitol Hill. Looks good and seems to be near enough. Will be travelling to NY on Amtrak and this hotel is near the station.
This will give me something to look forward to when we return from Disney
