Re: Vinylmation
LOVE LOVE LOVE the CP one, Brit! Will have to hunt around on Ebay and see if I can find it.
Tink,
I think reasons for collecting are as many and varied as items collected...and trying to pinpoint why someone collects a certain thing is just a lesson in futility. I have a few of these on my desk at work, they represent special moments or favorite aspects of Disney and are safe enough (as opposed to pins) to keep on my desk around children. The students LOVE to stand at my desk and name off what each little Mickey represents. I've even had a few children act out an entire "role play" with them. Between those and my Snow White decal on my Mac, my desk is the "The Happiest Place in school!" LOL
Of course, I asked Baleigh why she collected them and her response was quite different. She says she collects them because even though they look "funky and cool" they are still "Disney" and it's sort of her way of still being "in love with Disney" while still being teenager.
See? Totally different reasons, but we ended up with the same collectible!
Crazy innit it?

Re: Vinylmation
No, not at all. I'm happy to have you share some insights into the attraction for them. That's what I'm not getting... usually, even though I may not want something myself (like the pins) I "get" the attraction for others. These, not so much. Not that they are the cutest little ******s, I just didn't connect on the collecting floor, so to speak.
Baleigh's reasons for collecting make total sense to me. Cool, funky, Disney without being twee...

Re: Vinylmation
EXACTLY!
I agree, Brit...I love seeing how they make so many concepts come to life on such a unique canvas. I have some pins, though I never really got "into" trading them. i do love that I have pins from certain attractions that are now closed or soon to be closed. One of my most prized possessions is my Diamond Horseshoe Saloon Revue pin. Ahhhh memories!i bought it 'second hand' Becca, i never did get into pins really and i think some of these are cute. I think a lot of effort goes into the designs too.

Re: Vinylmation
LOL, no this is very different for Baleigh than the pins were...she LOVED trading them. But the VM characters she only buys. The only time I've seen her trade was immediately after buying one, it was one she already had, so she traded with the cashier.
