      restaurants at the wilderness lodge

I thought there was only an expensive one called artists point but the guide book mentions another one that is more for kids? Has anyone tried it?

Whispering Canyon. It's a themed place and is definitely for fun loving people. I won't spoil it for you by telling you too much, but it's a place where there are loads of things that can happen.

      The food is ok too.

It's great it really is. VERY VERY good food, talented servers who really make it a fun experience. It's very loud and very much the place to take kids who aren't shy (and parents for that matter).

I'm not one for audience participation so it was a little OTT for my tastes but then thats why I don't do 50s prime time either, I'm a chicken

Re: restaurants at the wilderness lodge

I'm with Keith. I did dine there once, but it was in the late afternoon and was pretty quiet. The server we had was more interested in talking Disney with two in my party (CMs themselves) so we weren't subjected to the bulk of the "fun" stuff. We were obviously not too into it anyway.

I've not been back though. Scaredy cat that I am. :o

They have bottomless milkshakes there! They are real ones too, made with ice cream. They didn't lose much money on me with them. I could only manage one!

Re: restaurants at the wilderness lodge

It's a full service restaurant at Disney Hollywood Studios. It's premise is that you are "home" for dinner during the 1950's. The servers are relatives. Some are cousins, aunts, MOM! There are "rules." No elbows on the table, eat all your veggies, don't order dessert before dinner. (They are playful mind, not actual).

I'm terrified (seriously!) of that sort of interacton though, so can't bring myself to go there. We were stood outdoors reading the menu once and one of the servers opened the door and shouted, "Are you two going to get in here and eat your dinner or WHAT?" I KNOW it was in play, and it was funny, but that's all it took! Not for me!

LOADS of folks love it though. Kids especially, so you may want to try it out! (Again, the milkshakes (I've had one at the Tune In Lounge) are wonderful)!

I love the 50's Prime Time, mainly because it's always DH that gets picked on - last year our 'cousin' made him a paper hat to wear with 'SPARKY' written on it She accused him of hiding his veggies under the table and there was a lot of interaction between her tables - she was very funny but not once did I feel uncomfortable (and I really don't like audience participation!)

Awwww see? That sounds like wicked fun! I'm sure I'd love to see that, but not be involved! I'm just too much of a fraidy cat.

I love Whispering Canyon, we don't really get involved with too much of the interaction but I think the CM's are fabulous and to watch diners is really great fun. If you don't want to join in, the CM's will leave you alone but the food is good only DON'T ASK FOR KETCHUP!

50's Prime Time is one of my favorite places to eat. I love their fried chicken. Haven't been since they took away the green beans and made greens a staple with that meal but am looking forward to it.
