U.S. Kindle - does it work in the UK?

Hello!!! I am writing to you from the 25th floor of the Buena Vista Palace hotel before heading out to EPCOT!

Quick question please - if I buy a Kindle Touch here will it work the same in the UK? Will we be able to use the plug/mains charger for use over there?

      Thank you!

Re: U.S. Kindle - does it work in the UK?

I dont know exactly... useful huh

The kindle fire I got REALLY wants a US amazon account with a US card attached. You can work around it but it still feels a bit messy.

Kindle touch should be a little easier though because it just needs a kindle account.

(ps. Got a kindle touch as well, and the size/weight everything about it is better than the original in every way. REALLY nice device)

      Thanks Keith really useful!!

We went to buy a digital compact camera as our new Lumix is faulty and realised all the chargers have the plug built in to them rather than have a cord. So we couldn;t change the plug and would have to rely on using a US/UK adaptor all the time. I wondered whether the Kindle was the same too.

I imagine with the Touch it would be easier to get stuff from UK Amazon than with the Fire? I haven't got the techy no how if it was complicated!

Thanks Tink! We had a blip a few days ago when there was that prolonged rain and it was forecast for a few more days, but that seems to have worked itself out!

Re: U.S. Kindle - does it work in the UK?

Actually the touch (in the uk and I assume the us) comes only with a USB charger.... in other words you have to attach it to a computer to charge it. Thats the same uk/us so there's no hassle there.

If you want a UK charger for it you can easily buy one from amazon uk

Keith, thanks for that! Now, the only problem we have is where to buy one from - we have only seen them in Walmart, and they have no stock in right now

Keith actually beat me to it. In fact I'm almost certain that Walmart or is it Target is going to stop carrying them.
