It's when you get a voicemail message, you can check them on the phone in any order you'd like. Each voicemail is shown as a separate recording that you can listen to in any order you choose. Or not. As you see fit.

Unlike a normal answering machine where you get to listen to each separate recording in turn.

      Looks like this:

It was one of the huge apple iphone "advantages" when launched and they insisted that all the providers who wanted an exclusive launch with iphone supported it.

So, O2 had to buy servers and stuff to support it and put them on their network.

After that period of exclusivity ran out (2 yrs after the first iphone) the other networks could then sell the phone and werent subject to the same requirements. They looked at the cost of providing the service and decided that plain old voicemail was good enough

As a consequence, in the UK, O2 pay monthly iphone tariff is the only way for ukers to get official apple iphone visual voicemail.

      I have two questions...

      1. How do I get my contact data from gmail to the contacts do-da on my iPad? Will it share data?

      2. Can I sync my iPad apps to my iMac? If so, how?

      I'm still learning

Sounds like a job for Google Sync. While I haven't used it, there's instructions on how to do so here. Do let us know how and if this works.

You can. But they won't actually work on your Mac. When you plug your iPad into your Mac, it'll sync via iTunes. When it does, it will copy the apps you've got on it to your Mac and they'll be visible in the Apps section of iTunes while you've got your iPad connected. Now, of course, you can buy your apps either from on your iPad or within iTunes. Both places will remain in sync. You can even setup your iPad to sync with your Mac wirelessly. Here's an Apple Tech note on the subject.

Let us know if you need more info.

It looks good on the web but better in person. Much thinner/lighter than the 15 but with all the pro features and power of the pro.

It's very very fast which almost goes without saying but even when i taxed it, it was either silent or next to silent.

I'd seen a lot of stuff on the web saying that web pages scrolling was choppy and normal non-retina graphics were fuzzy because they had to be scaled up. I wasn't worried, I know Apple brings out new stuff and it takes a while for 3rd parties to catch up but having played with it, there's no issue that I can find at all.

The SSD storage is blindingly stupidly fast! and 16GB memory which is amazing for a laptop.

Of course, the highlight is the screen. Very hard to explain how good it is. I looked at photos and they really popped off the screen, the icons and text look incredible. When you play with it, it really feels like a new generation and a game changer, but then after some hours your eyes get used to it. I went back to the old generation 15" pro and I thought something was wrong with it! There isnt, but after looking at the new one for hours, non-retina now looks pixelly. Amazing how apple manage to do that :/

So faster, lighter, quieter, miles better screen. Love it

ps. I see all the previous models being reduce in pc world, apple etc. There's such a premium on the new ones right now that the old ones, discounted, are bargains! I really wanted a 15" screen but if you're fine with 13.3", then the macbook airs are still the lightest/thinnest ones around
So... uh... you're still loving it?

      Thanks Tom for the help!

I don't have an iPhone (probably during my next upgrade though), so the google sync seemed to only work with iPhone. Maybe I misunderstood the link you provided.

I truly do, it's everything I was hoping they'd do on the next model and more!

I guess the screen is the most obvious advancement but I must say the speed is welcome too, especially on the SSD side of things. Blindingly quick.
