I love my macbook air and that form factor seems to be the way forward but larger screen would be nice and perhaps some more power

i have a CD rom for my OU course that needs to be downloaded onto the hard drive to be used, it won't do it on iMac or mac book pro is there any way around this?
also any idea what program i need to download in order to use citrix on my iMac, it's for work. My work netbook is dire and when they broke it during an upgrade they put a new hard drive in it - i could have cried LOL
