Arrrggghhhh.... I've been selected! :-)

Last February, my DW and I went to see my favorite guitarist, Tommy Emmanuel, in a local show. He's one of only six recipients of an award the late, great Chet Atkins bestowed on several people. The CGP. Or "Certified Guitar Player".

If you haven't seen or heard of him. Here's an example of his music.

Anyway, the point of all this is that during that concert back in February, the people we were sitting next to had gotten to participate in a meet and greet with him before the show. They had video, pictures, the whole bit. The guy had brought his guitar and Tommy had graciously autographed it. Evidently, spots at the meet and greet are hard to come by. Of course, I didn't even know about them at that time.

Well, the show was absolutely spectacular. My DW even loved it. She sat there and kept nudging me and saying "he's a whole orchestra all by himself"!

To make a long story even longer, I saw just recently that he was going to have another show in September that was reasonably close to us. About a 3 hour drive away in another state. I already had a bit of vacation time scheduled at that time so I went ahead, got us tickets to the show and booked a hotel for the night of the show so we wouldn't have to drive back late at night.

Oh... and I also submitted my name to be included in the meet and greet.

Didn't hear anything back. They had indicated it would be about 10 days before they got back to you and if you didn't hear, please contact them again. Of course, I didn't hear anything so after 10 days, I sent another email.

Time passes and to be truthful I forgot about it. I figured that I had lost out.

Then yesterday, my email on my iPad went "bing". I checked it and guess what?

I'm in!

I've got my favorite guitar going along to get autographed!

By the way, he is wonderful. My Da plays guitar... he has a beautiful old Gibson.
