Have to go along with the crew. We have done both (as well as character breakfast at Ohana's) and would agree that is was certainly more peaceful at Cape May. It was sort of weird seeing all the characters in swimming attire, but sort of cool
Chef Mickey's (we did that a few years ago) had more interaction though. It was DW's birthday so Mickey gave her lots of attention.

We liked it but if you are looking for a calm breakfast then it's definitely not the place.
