Wearing a Hat in the Disney World Parks

I have very fine hair and I find that my head burns quite badly, especially along the parting line. I have tried wearing a hat, but this just made my head very hot and gave me a migraine. Admittedly it was one of Chris' baseball caps

Do you wear a hat to shield your head from the sun and if so how do you stop your head getting too hot.

If you don't how do you stop your head burning

I do not wear a hat. My head gets too hot as it is. I have very thick hair do burning is not an issue for me.

Well with my pigmently challenge hair...I guess glare to nearby people is more of an issue!! Think the scientific name is albedo...I have alot of hair albedo..

I wear a hat. Sometimes a cap, or sometimes a safari type hat with a brim to protect my ears and back of neck. I take it off everytime I go indoors or under cover. Never had any problems with a hot head.

Dh always wears his safari hat that he got at Disney World. It has the brim to protect his neck and ears, but the top of the hat is mesh. It keeps the sun out, but allows air to flow through Works out great for him

OoohOooh, i knew i would be able to tell this to someone eventually!! I was nosing around town the other week and noticed that there is some sun cream you can buy that you can put on your head!! Its not meant to make your hair greasy or anything!

Now all i have to do is try and remember what it was called and where i saw it

I either use a parasol, which also keeps the sun off your shoulders, or wear a baseball cap. Like Dawn, I take it off when not outside and it doesn't make me hot.

Thanks everyone, I will need to think about something this year, my head does get quite sore at times.

I'll have a look for the suntan lotion for the head, I wonder if it makes your hair greasy

Jon uses the "scalp screen" as we call it...seems to work quite well, actually. I'll have a look to see what brand it is (maybe Banana Boat?) when we get home and report back. I do recall it being a pump spray, so it was quite easy to apply ;-)
