Re: Calling an audible...
Back

And without getting "hoodwinked" (as my grandma calls it). We arrived at the "taxi stand" unsure quite what to do when an off brand cab pulled up and asked where we were headed. I told him we were heading to Downtown Disney. He nodded, gestured for us to get in, and I swear I could almost HEAR all of you shout in my ear, "ASK HIM THE PRICE FIRST!!!" So I did. "Oh, you know, with traffic, probably around $27."
I countered, telling him we'd only paid $16 to get there, and he again cited "traffic." I told him thanks, but no thanks, I'd wait for the next one and pointed the girls in the other direction. We walked down to secondary stop where another cab pulled up, same drill - only this time with a much more reasonable, "Oh, it shouldn't be more than $12-$15." In we go, back to DD in record time, cost...$12.60! I tipped him well, solely on principle. I'm quite pleased with myself
I think I'll have a drink to celebrate!

Makes the taxis in NYC seem like quite a deal, don't they? We paid a small fortune to get from POR to Royal Plaza one night. And the cab reeked of jerk chicken.

If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together.......
there is something you must always remember.
You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
But the most important thing is, even if we're apart...... I'll always be with you.
Winne the Pooh - A A Milne

A friend is a hand that is always holding yours,
no matter how close or far apart you may be.
A friend is someone who is always there and will always, always care.
A friend is a feeling of forever in the heart.

You say that like it is a bad thing!! hehe
Not exactly the same, but the cabs hounded us as we got off the quay on our cruise in Jamaica and wanted to charge us $25 dollars to take us to the downtown. Kept walking as they kept dropping the price...well we ended up walking all the way to the "downtown" Ocho Rios...all of 300 yards down the road. What a rip off! Glad we walked
