Re: Get to know you post?
Lovely
thank you for sharing, she is gorgeous.
I love the fairy dress and the wellington boots

If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together.......
there is something you must always remember.
You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
But the most important thing is, even if we're apart...... I'll always be with you.
Winne the Pooh - A A Milne

A friend is a hand that is always holding yours,
no matter how close or far apart you may be.
A friend is someone who is always there and will always, always care.
A friend is a feeling of forever in the heart.
.................

Re: Get to know you post?
Oh what the heck...
I have been reading the posts on the thread...and thinking about how this place is and has been an important place for me to visit like minded friends. We have shared so much over the years, both the good and the bad, and many times while having not actually meeting any of you feel that I sort of know you. It is kind of funny, I can hear a lot of you "speaking" through your written words and a lot of you sure do talk funny....(felt like I was saying that like Gearge W.). I share what I experience here with my family (brother and daughter) and with my lovely wife Sally.
My brother was happy to raise his glass on our last trip there to toast a man he never met, but felt sort of like he did. That was my pal Mick.
I am feeling pretty low thinking about the passing of Ann and how Dave is holding up. So I preface my response with that. We kind of bare our souls here, why NOT know a bit more about the ins and outs?
So again thanks to our wonderful mods....for starting this place and for keeping it running.
I will start with a screen name that is way to long to write down each time...Watchinherskip.
I took the name and used it on at least 3 other Disney sits on my way here. I got a chance to meet a lot of you back in the day and am so glad to still know you. The name came from the vision of watching my then 6 year old daughter Alex bounding down the walkway from the futuristic part of Epcot towards he world showcase. She was on her way to an autograph signing with a huge pen and her autograph book. She is now 21, a senior in college, and as big a Disney freak as there is!
I guess I came by my love for Disney honestly. It started at the 1964 World's Fair in NY. I got a chance to experience all the wonderful rides (Ford, GM, IASW, etc) and was hooked. I think I was clinically depressed upon leaving the place and not having the option of going back again.
My DW and I had our first trip to WDW in 1987 and stayed at the Disney Inn. It was fantastic. It seemed like overnight the whole resort went into holiday mode. We woke up on the second day to find a christmas tree had been set up outside our door. The whole park went into christmas mode overnight. I was so impressed.
After many trips, we still look forward to our next one.
Aside from my DW and DD we have a really cool dog named Cody. He was a rescue dog from a housing project near my wife's school. We have lived in our two story house since 1988. We like it.
I just finally finished my master's degree from Penn State in December. Funny thing I have been a teacher for over 30 years and actually can retire any time. DD is at school and my job as a planetarium director and science specialist for the district is a good situation, so not in any hurry to retire (although DW and I have talked about going to work for Disney when we do!)
I am a big fan of whitewater kayaking and hope to keep that up as long as my old body will allow.

Re: Get to know you post?
Yes another original name - I'm Sam
I am very lucky to be married to a fantastic man Andrew, who is equally a wonderful father to our little people - Megan 10, Gethin 6. We do actually have knicknames for the kids which is Meg - Chickenduck, Gethin - Mr Magoo, so if you see those names you'll know who I'm talking about.
We live just over the border from Chester in North Wales, although I originate from Purton & Wootton Bassett (those of you in the UK will probably know Wootton Bassett or Royal Wootton Bassett due to our fallen troops coming through there and the crowds who came out to pay their respects). Wootton Bassett was where I met my DH, who was with the RAF at Lyneham. He is originally from Ammanford, near Swansea in South Wales, hence the welsh names for our children. We moved here after Andrew left the RAF and now works for Unilever.
I've worked many years in the health & leisure industry starting as a lifeguard until eventually managing a Golf and Leisure Club. I also had a stint as a wedding co-ordinator whilst I was trying to get pregnant with our first little person.
When I first had my children I did run baby signing franchise but eventually gave up after having to compete with the many hundreds of baby and toddler classes in the area. I do still run a private class at a private nursery which is fantastic and love seeing the babies and toddlers doing british sign language before many of them can speak. The other great thing is the Nursery Manager is as equally Disney mad as me and on our nights out all we talk about is Disney, she even got married there.
I now run my own diet and fitness business where I teach classes from aerobics to Zumba and I also run a free slimming club along side the classes. I have a wonderful bunch of ladies who have been with me for the past 6 years some as Disney mad as me, some not as mad but very understanding.
I have wrote this earlier on Chit Chat, you are a fab group of people and I am blessed to be part of it. For me this site isn't just about Disney and Florida but much more.
