We are a 747. I've chosen a set of two at the back for both journeys (economy)

I do prefer the 747s and I'm sure on the revamped ones it'll be even better (Even though they've ruined the upstairs bubble).

Still, at least the seats are chosen now so one more thing not to have to worry about

I recall there was a list of plane names which have been revamped. Can someone let me know where to find this?

This came into effect late yesterday by the looks of it. Virgin's announcement said:

We announced in January 2012 that we would be making some changes to the way we assign seats in advance, to make our system more reliable.

In order to do this, we switched off advance seat assignment for all flights departing from 1 November 2012.

Unfortunately, the project is taking us a longer than we originally hoped and we have not yet been able to fix all the issues. However, we recognise that many customers were frustrated at not being able to select seats in advance and we appreciate that seat selection is an important part of the flight experience. So we’ve made the decision to switch the advance seat assignment system back on. This means customers can now choose their seats from 90 days before their day of departure.

This facility is now available to all passengers, in all classes, except Premium Economy on our leisure routes. You can select your seat through our website or the travel agent you booked through.

Thanks for your patience and understanding.

A selection of seats are now available for pre assignment. If you wish to request these seats before you fly please go to Manage my flights or contact your travel agent.

Please be aware if all the pre assignable seats have been taken, your seats will be allocated to you at Check-in. We regret our contact centre or your travel agent will be unable to assist, however it's worth visiting Manage my flights online at regular intervals because people do cancel and seats do become available.

Premium Economy seat reservations unavailable from 1 April 2012 until 5 January 2013

We are busy refurbishing all the aircraft that fly out of Gatwick, Manchester and Glasgow; designing new seats and state of the art in-flight entertainment to make your flight more comfortable and more fun than ever before. The Premium Economy cabin on the lower deck will be larger but more exclusive and all the seat numbers are changing.

The upgrades to our fleet are almost completed and therefore you will be able to select your Premium Economy seats via Manage my flights or your travel agent from 8 October 2012 if your flight is after 5 January 2013. If you flight is before 5 January 2013 your seats will be assigned at check in.

• G-VROM (Barbarella)
• G-VAST (Ladybird)
• G-VLIP (Hot Lips)

G-VROS (English Rose) is actually being refitted now

Still left to do:

• G-VGAL (Jersey Girl)
• G-VROY (Pretty Woman)
• G-VXLG (Ruby Tuesday)

So it's still pot luck at the moment by the looks of it.

Well, I can definately vouch for Pretty Woman not having been revamped yet!!
We came back on her a few days ago and my TV controls which should have been fixed into the left side of the chair were on my seat with all of the wires etc exposed. Obviously having been previously 'repaired' as the actual controls had black and yellow tape wound around them.
The right hand arm of the chair swayed so much it was useless.
