      Nervous Parents on Disney Transport?

It occurred to me last night that Jon's sister and BIL are quite mindful of car seats and seatbelts and such when they take their children in the car. As well they should be, clearly. I guess my question is - to you mom's and dad's out there with young children, have you ever worried about traveling on Disney Transport (buses and DME specifically) without carseats? Any advice you can offer? We will be seeing them this weekend and chatting about our trip, and I want to be able to help them understand better what to expect.

      Nervous Parents on Disney Transport?

From what we saw over the last two weeks disney buses are fine for kids. Parents tend to hold very young children while sat down, toddlers just tend to cuddle up to the nearest adult. Older kids run up and down and get shouted at. Big kids like me sit at the back and pull faces at the small ones

DD was 2 on our first trip with her and 4 on the last trip, she sat on our laps on the buses - and also on the i-ride on ID. We had no problem with this at all!

Re: Nervous Parents on Disney Transport?

There are no seat belts on Disney park transports (busses or ferrys). I'd say that trying to use a carseat would be dangerous. We've never worried about the boy on transport. We just hang on to him (at whatever age he's been at) and have had no problems. He's old enough to sit between us now...

It is a good point though... why don't they have seat belts? Their buses HAVE crashed haven't they.

Do the public transit systems in the UK have seat belts?

      Nervous Parents on Disney Transport?

Im a carseat freak, we wont drive aroun the block if they arent in their carseats

However, at Disney and mostly all public transportation you cant use carseats. There are no seat bealts, no latch connectors, seats facing sideways, etc...

However, I once read somewhere that the larger the vehicle, the less amout of damage to the people involved in an accident since the larger vehicle mass will absorb most of the energy from the crash. I hope its true and I hope I never have to find out if it is

Not buses no, but the coaches now have them by law.

Coaches? Not sure what a coach is? (I'm only familiar with the term as being interchangeable with bus).

      Nervous Parents on Disney Transport?

      Let me interpret Tink:

      (Assumes American accent)

      Motor coach/bus/ coach.

Or as I like to call them: peasant wagons!
