Gaston's Tavern, New Fantasyland
I still find it surreal to think that I was one of the first people to go into Gaston's Tavern
When you enter the Tavern the counter is in front of you with the menu above. We chose a Cinnamon bun to try and just had diet coke, one thing that wasn't very good was that there weren't any trays, but I'm sure Disney will correct this when it opens officially. Chris went to grab a table as it was starting to fill up. The only downside to the Tavern is that it is quite small and it only seats 57 people. We were able to sit at a table to the right of the counter in the part that has the huge picture of Gaston with a fake fire burning in the fireplace. The tables are wood and they have stools instead of chairs. There is one corner that has a round table with cushioned seating at the back and stools on the other side, above it there is a gorgeous antler light. The theming is just amazing.
A lot of people were eating the Pork Shanks, these are quite large and looked really nice, I'd need to make sure they aren't made the same way as the turkey legs before I try one though
I did manage to grab a photo of one on the table next to us.
The theming is amazing and it is somewhere I will definitely be going again.
Here are a few photos

Kate, they are most definitely Pork Shanks, not ham and not turkey. They are more like the Schweinehaxen that you see at the Germany Oktoberfest.

I just adore this theming. I wonder if Disney could come in and decorate my house.

Re: Gaston's Tavern, New Fantasyland
The turkey legs are most likely brined, given the amount of sodium in them. I'm sure the brine is much more than just a salt brine however. Then they are smoked. I used to love these but always felt they had way too many tendons in them. At one point Disney must have found an alternate supplier and they had turkey legs that were actually more like real turkey than the ham taste of the current ones. Those didn't have as many tendons and I enjoyed them much more. They have however, gone back to the "traditional" smoked turkey leg and I don't eat them any more.
