If you are on the Deluxe Dining Plan do you still have to use two choices at Signature restaurants?

Re: Disney Dining Plan - 2013 Prices

I still don't entirely get it I really don't. (even after all these years )

so for two people it's about $110 per night for the middle plan and that's
      1 quick service meal
      one snack
      1 table service
(1 length of stay refillable mug)

ok so I thought lets see what a meal at brown derby would cost going for the most expensive items on the menu. we're probably looking at $45 per person with a drink. So $90 for two people leaving 20 paying for quick and snack. So I thought ok well thats JUST about saving money although a few dollars not much. THEN I remembered that brown derby is a signature restaurant so is taking 2 table service credits! WOW!

so fine, lets take a normal one. Nine dragons at EPCOT... I reckon roughly $70 for two getting the most expensive items+drink. So, $110 on the dining plan for that night, leaves $40 to pay for a snack and a quick service.

I'm just not seeing the value?

It feels like I'm missing some benefit and working it out incorrectly :/ but what?

Sounds to me like I'm still better off with TIW as long as I have an AP. That covers drinks also.

yeah it FEELS that way to me too. Can't knock 20% even if it does just pay for the gratuity in reality. Doesn't feel like the dining plan comes close to that level of discount even if you're sticking with the most expensive dishes

Especially since we don't normally eat 3 meals a day and we enjoy a drink or two with dinner.

yep definitely! and for us, we eat off site a lot now so even less worth committing to the plan for such meagre savings
