Day trip from WDW?
Any ideas for a day out from Disney? Would be happy to drive a couple of hours, was thinking of a nice town, maybe with a couple of smaller attractions like boat trips etc. We don't do beaches to sit on but like coastal/lake/riverside places.
I have looked at St Augustine and Mt Dora which are both contenders but just wondered if I am missing somewhere good?
Thank you

Re: Day trip from WDW?
Mount Dora was one of the towns that we used to visit whenever we went to Orlando and we really enjoyed having dinner at a lakeside restaurant called "Pisces Rising" and a stroll around the various quaint shops nearby.
Sadly, the last time we were there [around 3 years ago], many of the shops had [or were to] close and the place somehow didn`t feel the same as it used to be.
As I say, this was a while back so things may have changed by now.
How about a trip to KSC if you are into that sort of thing?

Re: Day trip from WDW?
Can highly recommend St. Augustine - a great day out, but actually really needs a few more to fit everything in. Take the trolley tour, buy tickets online to save money and they are valid for a full 3 days. It will take you round to all kinds of historical places, along with the St. Sebastian Winery and Whetstone Chocolate factory. You can take a free wine tasting tour at the Winery, a chocolate tour is around $8, cheaper if you buy at the trolley headquarters. It will also take you to the beach, but you have to change trolleys at a specific stop. Lots of little quirky shops, lots to see and do.

Re: Day trip from WDW?

If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together.......
there is something you must always remember.
You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
But the most important thing is, even if we're apart...... I'll always be with you.
Winne the Pooh - A A Milne

A friend is a hand that is always holding yours,
no matter how close or far apart you may be.
A friend is someone who is always there and will always, always care.
A friend is a feeling of forever in the heart.
