Changes to Minimum Age Requirements at Walt Disney World

From the 23rd March 2013, Disney are making changes to the age of admission policy for all of its US parks, including all the gated attractions at Walt Disney World.

Guests you are aged 14 and under will now need to be accompanied by a Guest who is 14 or older. This will operate at all the parks, Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon, and DisneyQuest.

At the moment Guests who are under 7 years of age must be accompanied by a Guest age 14 or older.

Do you think this is a good change of policy or would you have preferred it to stay as it was?

I had no idea that was a policy in the first place.

Maybe they've had hoards of cheerleaders roaming around unsupervised or something.

Alysia and Kayla were 11 when we let them off on their own in the same park we were in.

Shoot I think Alysia and Andrew were 12 and 13 when they were using Disney transportation alone. Like pros I might add.

I knew about the 7 age. But there are plenty of 12 year olds who babysit!!

Obviously someone has abused this on order for them to make it a rule

TBH, I prefer to think there was simply mischief making rather than something more nefarious...

Of course (Johnie can attest to this), quite often we have trouble CONVINCING our teens to go enjoy themselves without us, they're always afraid they're gonna miss something!

well heck yeah! with you two out on the loose, you'd be the ones causing trouble not the teens!

While I think 7 is to young I think 14 is a bit too old, I would say a couple of 12 year olds would be fine together if they knew the parks and were mature.

I think it should be up to the parents but obviously some patents are lacking in this department.
