Universal Trip 1st Day

Left NYC last night at 9pm and headed south on I-95, we were making great time and then we hit Virginia and a snowflake or two hit the windshield and before I knew it we were in the middle of a fierce snowstorm. The snow was blinding and was sticking to ground, in fact the snow took out the left lane and I was driving single file down I95 for 3 hours going about 25-30 mph. When I got to the southern portion of VA the snow turned to rain and eventually I was able to get back on pace. I checked into the Best Western Plus right up the street from Universal Studios. I was able to get the room off of Hotwire for two nights for a total of 123 dollars tax and fees included. Check in was quick and the room was as expected. After checking in we headed over to US around 4pm, that gave us 3 hours. We went on the following rides... Woody woodpecker,ET,Simpsons,Men in Black, and the new Minions ride. We left the park and tried to get a table at Margaritaville but the wait was 1:30 do we tried the Latin Quarter and the food was delicious. I had the Carne Frita, wife had the Arroz Con Pollo, my son had the steak fajita and my daughter had the kids chicken fingers. Everyone loved their dinner. I also had a dragon berry Mojito while the wife had a sangria again both were great. It's now 8pm and we are all wiped out so back to the hotel for some very needed rest. Tomorrow is IOA

shame about Margaritaville, we had a nice meal there but the latin quarter sounds good. How did you find the minion ride?

Sorry your journey was a difficult one, it can't have been very nice driving in the snow storm.

It sounds like you made the lost of your time at Universal Studios

It sounds like you made pretty good time in spite of running into the snow in VA. What time did you hit VA?

John I'm guessing we hit the top of Virginia around 1:00 or 1:30 in the morning. I had checked the weather report the previous day and thought I would be able to avoid the snow...wrong. I am in IOA today and the weather is great..I will type a report later tonight.

Be glad you didn't hit the Richmond area yesterday. We had some crazy snow and traffic was awful.
