What do you do when you arrive?
This time we'll be arriving earlier than usual in the afternoon so even with time for a nap we should be able to go out and do something
Any suggestions for the first day there?

Re: What do you do when you arrive?
When we used to fly in (before living here) we always went to DTD on our first day. We'd check in, have a good explore of the resort so we'd know what was where, then head to DTD.
Sometimes, if we had our own transport we'd go over to Premium outlet (just beyond DTD) and have a look in the Disney store there.
Mostly though it was DTD for us.
'Course now with the destruction of PI there isn't as much to occupy your attention.

Re: What do you do when you arrive?
We always go with my brother and his family and we fly to WDW...so one of us will get there first. First to arrive will wait by the resort pool to await the arrival of the other family. We get park hoppers and usually get to AK or Disney Studios on the first night.

Re: What do you do when you arrive?
We tend to arrive too late to do much, unless it's an EMH night at MK.

We usually just check out the resort and relax. The adults work a full day before leaving and we're all usually packing the night before we leave home. In other words, we're tired!
If we have energy and it isn't EMH at MK, we might go to DTD to poke through the shops. Or, if the weather is nice, as it was last December, pool time for anyone who wants it and chill time for those who don't.

Re: What do you do when you arrive?
When we take the grandchildren we normally hit DTD after we check in. When it is just the two of us it depends on what time we get there and how we got there.

We either tend to arrive really late at night or early in the morning. If it is late at night, we go to the hotel and go to sleep. If it is in the morning, we are off to the parks!

Re: What do you do when you arrive?
In the past we've hit up the bar or gone to a monorail resort and eaten luch there and gone to the bar (sense my theme?
)
This past year we ate dinner at Chef Mickey's as we had our DS with us and he's not quite ready for the bar!
We've also rented the 'mouseboats' for the afternoon on the first day. It's a nice way to unwind and get ready for vacation.
