This is the canon 350d piggybacked on the scope and 'driven' along with the stars - 18-55mm lens 3minute exposure at iso 800.

Just think every point of light is a star. And you are staring into the heart of out galaxy - just floating here on a ball of rock.

Pointing the scope in another direction we get this bit of sky - right in the middle is a small fuzzy blob- this is the andromeda galaxy.

The light from this other galaxy takes 2.8 million years to get to us and is visible to the naked eye from a dark site - think about the journey those photons have taken.

If we up the exposure time to 5 minutes up the magnification to a 200mm lens and stack 5 frames and subtract dark and offset you can start to see some up the formations within the galaxy.

the tiny blob above at 11 oclock and 3 oclock are satelite galaxies to the andromeda.

I preferred the milkyways before they changed the filling in them.
