Re: New York
My DW and I went there a few years ago on a 5 day package in order to see Eric Clapton play at Madison Square Gardens and we absolutely loved it.
Sadly it was in November so it was quite cold but that didn`t deter us from having a great time.
A walk in Central Park, a trip up to the top of the Empire State Building, dinner at the Waldorf Astoria, visiting Times Square, and the financial district around Wall Street are all worth doing.
My DW would also add shopping at Macy`s! :

We went in January last year and stayed here

Great place, great location, great staff! The room was small - but then NY rooms are small.

Re: New York
We've stayed here several times, and have always enjoyed it...
There is SO much to see and do in the city....it all depends on what your personal tastes are!!! If you enjoy shopping...Macy's is defo the place to go...don't forget the Disney Store...and if you're feeling adventurous, you might want to ride the MASSIVE carousel at Toys R Us....There's the Hershey store for chocolate, and soooooooo many wonderful places to eat.
I'd say see a show, take a stroll, visit a rooftop bar and do a bit of shopping...

Re: New York
The Wellington is the hotel Borat stayed in! I've looked at it when I've found great deals for January. Looks nice and central.

Only hotel reccomendation I can make is the Millenium Hilton. Great hotel.. But a bit out of it in the financial district. Wasn't a problem though. The hotel was beautiful , the room(s!) were massive and being on the 43rd floor was a bonus.
I wanna go back.. but now it is soooooo expensive. We had such a great deal for it.
