Tell me about DC - enough for a 6 year old to do

Realised last night that Matthew will be old enough to do this -

      1. Is there enough to do there to engage a 6 year old past the dolphin swim
      2. How long did you spend in the park?
      3. does it come with seaworld passes?
      4. Is seaworld walkable from DC?
      5. Is it possible to do DC and Seaworld in a day?
      6. Do you get given wetsuits as it may be a little chilly in February?

He can swim but not brilliantly - will this be an issue?

I know Matthew likes the water so there will be plenty (in my opinion) to keep him occupied. Apart from the dolphin swim, there is the ray lagoon where you can all wade through the water with the rays and quite often get the chance to feed them.
The tropical river is lovely and warm and you can basically float around and explore the caved area or waterfall.
What would Matthew be like with a snorkel? There are thousands of tropical fish to go snorkeling with.
Either by swimming under the waterfall or, in Matthews case, walking over the bridge, you are in an aviery full of tropical birds. They always come and land on you so that you can feed them.
Don't get me wrong...this is no Aquatica where the kids will have fun splashing and dive bombing etc....it is a different kind of fun in the water.

We usually spend from around 9am to 4.30pm in the park. It is quite a leisurely day for us.
Your main meal of the day is included in the price as is your breakfast. Also, drinks and snacks all day are free too.

In with the price, you can get the option to go to either SW for 14 days, BG for 14 days or, pay about $30 extra to go to both plus Aquatica for 14 days.

Wetsuits or life jackets and snorkels are included too. You can choose between the short or long leg wetsuits.

Re: Tewll me about DC - enough for a 6 year old to do

Caitlin was just 7 last year when we went and she loved it, we checked in at 8 and left about 5.30. Our dolphin swin was early and over by about 10.30 so they spent the day playing in the water and in the sand, snorkling, and eating the free oreos

There are a few animal encounters scheduled through out the day as well although they are pretty low key. We got to meet a Sloth.

Yes, there is tons of things, beach toys, animal encounters, large ray pool, smaller ray pool, animal encounters and the aviary

Probably, but I wouldn't do it! I *think* there is a shuttle that runs between the two

Everyone can have a wetsuit and you can choose short-legged, or vest style

Same as Lizzie,(see pic below, she was 6 then), they have plenty our the flotation jackets and the trainers were fantastic with Lizzie, she was very nervous at first and wouldn't go into deeper water, so our trainer held her hand until she felt comfortable

Re: Tewll me about DC - enough for a 6 year old to do

Everyone has covered everything i had to say but, Matthew wears glasses doesn't he? If you take a prescription or simply remember his sight number thing (Mine is -15) then you get given goggles which are prescription so that he can look underwater at the fish properly.

Remember to bring your own waterproof camera as they are expensive when you get there, and not to wear any sun cream as they provide you with dolphin friendly stuff when you get there!

We made the mistake of not bringing much money and then ended up paying on mums CC when we got to the giftshop- There's some nice stuff in there.

Try and get there early to get the early dolphin swim, and then you have the rest of the day at leisure- there'll be tons for him to do- the lazy river was my favourite! (I dove to the bottom and got a pebble which I still have to this day, on my bedside cabinet)
