downtown restaurants?
Are the downtown disney places busy enough to have to make reservations or can you still walk up to them?
Does the usual disney dining line accept reservations for them

Depends.
You can have some success walking in for lunch in some of them, but if you really want to dine at a given place, make an ADR. I believe you can make an ADR through Disney dining for some of them. Not sure about Rainforest Cafe.

hmmm rainforest cafe is the one I thought of too :/ Im not sure if you can reserve that on the normal line or not these days but a reservation would certainly help especially of an evening when the wait can be an hour or more

You can call RFC directly to make a reservation. Also if you are a Safari Club member, you get to go to the head of the line.
