What do you take in hand luggage?
Last January we were behind a family who must have had everything including the kitchen sink in their hand luggage! you should have seen what they pulled out at security!
Do you try and take as much as you can or as little as possible to keep it light and out of trouble?

Re: What do you take in hand luggage?
Medications, change of clothing, extra shoes, light jacket/coat (depending upon destination) work related things to do while in flight, I'm one of those kitchen sink sorts, especially on short hauls. I hate checking baggage so try to carry everything in my carryon. I do travel as light as possible though.
Over seas travel would see the above minus (hopefully!) the work related things.Thank you for being a member of our Secrets Family!!! We are so very pleased to have you with us!

Re: What do you take in hand luggage?
I use either a small rolling duffel (16") or a rolling case for my laptop as my carry-on bag. My rule of thumb is I have to be able to lift it into the overhead bin and remove it without injuring another passenger!
Typical contents:
Laptop & geek bag
Change of clothing
Two sets of underwear
Nightwear
Eyeglasses, contact lens stuff & extra pair of lenses
3-1-1 bag with toiletry essentials
Toothbrush
Hairbrush/comb
Pair of Birkenstocks
Book & 2 magazines
Duplicate travel documents
If winter, jacket scrunched into compression bag
Purse contains usual stuff minus stuff I don't need (checkbook and a few other items carried on daily basis), paperback book, camera and travel documents. My purse always contains wintergreen LifeSavers and cherry cough drops. Useful in daily life as well as when traveling.
My luggage tends to go astray, so I always have necessities for two or three days. Ready-to-wear clothing has to be seriously altered before I can wear it, so just buyinig it and wearing it doesn't work for me. My Birks double as slippers and casual shoes, as I wear my walking shoes for the flight.
