      How do split stays work?

Is it easy to split a stay between two disney resorts?

do we have to checkout and check in and take luggage between the two? or is it all done for us?

You will have two separate reservations--one for each resort. So you will need to check in and out of each resort.

Bell Services/Luggage Services (depends on level of resort) can arrange to transfer your luggage from one WDW resort to the other (excludes Swan & Dolphin, as it isn't a WDW resort). It will arrive at some point the day you change resorts, so you might want a small bag with anything you might need that day.

If you won't have a rental car, the most efficient way for you to go from one resort to the other will be taxi, although you certainly could use WDW transportation if you choose. Unless you have mounds of luggage or a lot of people in your party, it might be more efficient to take your luggage in the taxi with you.

We have done this several times. Yes you do check out at one resort and in at the next. However, just let Disney handle your luggage for you. If you want to leave one resort then check in at the other and then go to the parks your luggage will be waiting for you when you get back.

Nope, Disney does it for you for free, unless of course you want to tip the bellman. ::
