What do you do in the evening?

for those who stay on disney, do you tend to be in the parks still? or do you go for a meal? or downtown disney? or something else?

Leu and I are two middle-aged females, usually on a ladies-only trip to rest and relax away from our daily responsibilities. So we aren't as likely to be on the go as much as younger folks. Been there, done that. Still do it occasionally!

If the parks are open late, we usually stay in the parks most nights. But we don't do park opening, so it makes a big difference. Sometimes we'll shop at DTD, but that's usually one day or evening of our trip. Leu's evening preference is to walk around World Showcase and graze as she chooses. We don't do many TS meals--usually one every two or three days. If we have a rental car, we'll go offsite a one or two days/evenings of our WDW visit to shop or just look around at everything that has changed since our visit in August 2003!

I'm going to miss the AC--I usually visited it once or twice every trip (usually 10 to 12 nights). Leu never did go--couldn't convince her it was worth her time. She preferred shopping!

Sometimes we stay in the parks to watch a show (Wishes, Fantasmic or Illuminations). Sometimes we go over to watch Piano Bob at Port Orleans Riverside (he's there certain days from 8:30pm to midnight). Soemtimes we hang out on the Boardwalk and watch the entertainment. Sometimes we go over to DTD and shop. And then sometimes we just go back to the hotel and crash.

There is also Jellyrolls and Atlantic Dance Hall over at the Boardwalk for those over 21.

We usually pop back to the resort mid-afternoon to chill for an hour or so and then stay in the parks until closing.
Other than that we go to DTD to eat and have a drink at Capn Jack's margarita shack.

Will admit, closing PI to adult venue has removed a viable source of evening options. We used to like to wander through there, never did anything too amazing, but did enjoy the live music, before they took out the West End Stage.

We tend to spend a few days in each park so at least one of those days would include an in park ADR scheduled to then be able to watch the fireworks/parade/Fantasmic.


If we aren't at a park for the whole day then we would probably have a resort ADR and then maybe go to DTD (by boat when we stay at POR as I love doing that in the evening), or the Boardwalk, or sometimes go into one of the parks to see the fireworks again. A couple of times we will go back to the resort so the kids can swim.

For the most part, after dinner we head back to the resort and crash, unless there is some sort of special event or special reason we stay at the parks late.

We travel west to east to reach WDW, so we tend to be awake until about 3:00 a.m. the first few days of our visit. We always take things to amuse ourselves after the parks close--cards, puzzles (crosswords, word-search, etc.), books and magazines--anything to get us through a few hours until our bodies are willing to shut down.
