Jon, the kids and I went out for a bit of leaf peeping this weekend…over the course of two days we picked some apples, picked some pumpkins, tasted some wine, enjoyed a picnic and did a *lot* of “oooooooooooooohing” and “awwwwwwwwwwwwwwing”

For those of you who may not *know* me or my family…here is a quick rundown…
Me: Rebecca, single mom of two – Texas transplant to Connecticut. Constantly amazed and inspired by the beauty and serenity of New England.
Andrew: DS, recently turned 16 at Disney World
Baleigh: DD, 10
Jon: Longsuffering fiancé, fellow wine drinker, and indulger of….ME!

We set out early Saturday morning for Bishop's Orchard in Guilford, CT. We’d not been able to go apple picking before our trip to Disney World, so we were hoping there would be a few left.

We shouldn’t have worried, there were plenty for the picking…

The “Apple Cart” took us out to the fields and we spent a couple of hours wandering through the orchard and selecting just the right apples. The fall colors were absolutely resplendent!! I couldn’t quite snapping pictures of the trees and the leaves and whatever else found its way into my viewfinder…

Baleigh, who since returning from Disney, has become somewhat “obsessed” with all things Japanese would only pick Fuji and Mutsu apples…and of course only the one’s at the very TOP of the tree. (As you may notice, Jon tends to indulge HER as well )

Even the boy had a bit of fun…pedestrian as the entire outing was

At little taste test…BUSTED!

Next was the pumpkin selection…I can’t really call it “picking” because really, they’d already been picked…we just selected the one we wanted to take home.

A quick peruse of the market, some fresh apple cider and we were headed back home to make fresh apple bread...

Next up…Day 2 and the Connecticut Wine Trail
