Extra magic hours?
Another thing we've read about in a guide book but dont really understand.
These are hours where the park stays open longer at night? are these accounted for in the official park hours on the disney web site or do we add hours onto the official timings?
How do we get these hours or is it just automatic that the park stays open and we stay longer?

Re: Extra magic hours?
It is automatic, and the EMH schedule will be available at your resort. As a Disney resort guest, you are automatically allowed to participate (no one else is allowed).
They can be a great way to see and do things you might not have had time to do.Thank you for being a member of our Secrets Family!!! We are so very pleased to have you with us!

Re: Extra magic hours?
As Tink says, you're automatically eligible for EMH hours as a Disney resort guest. Every person in your group (ages 3 and up) will need to have a room key to access the attractions/rides.
If you go to the calendar section on the official disney website and pull up the park schedule, you can click on special events or the various days to see what parks have extra magic hours in the morning or evening. The morning hour is one hour before scheduled park opening, the evening hours are three hours after scheduled park closing.
Historically, evening EMH hours have been:
Sunday: MK
Monday: DHS
Wednesday: AK
Friday: EPCOT
Historical morning EMH hours:
Monday: AK
Tuesday: EPCOT
Thursday: MK
Saturday: DHS
The evening hours switch for MK and DHS during MNSSHP and MVMCP dates, as those parties usually are on Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings. MNSSHP usually affects dates in September and October and MVMCP usually affects dates in November and December.
The EMH days and times are subject to change without notice, but this information should work for advance planning.

Re: Extra magic hours?
Also keep in mind that not every ride will remain open during EMH, when we were in MK for EMH we were quite disappointed to find that the Jungle Cruise, Carousel of Progress and a few other rides we were looking forward to enjoying at night were not available.
Typically however, the "big ticket" rides will be open and the wait time will be minimal if at all.

Food options can be pretty limited too so consider that.
