6th Timers show the Newbie how it’s done ~ Day 5

MGM, BB and Chilli’s ~ 7 Aug 2008

Today we were up again fairly early to do the third Disney park of the holiday, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, though I can’t get used to that name yet and will still call it MGM.

We had breakfast at the villa today, a bagel again with a cup of tea for me and then made our way to the park. I know that we got our car park ticket at exactly 9.13am – I kept some of them – and then parked up and waited for the tram.

As it was Alun’s first time at MGM, he had his little badge on again, see…




We made our way into the park, DF and Alun went straight on ahead and DM and I queued for the ‘bag check’ although they really didn’t seem to do all that much.





As we made our way up Hollywood Boulevard we spotted another PhotoPass photographer, but not your average one!

This one had High School Musical pom pom’s and a basketball! Lol The photographer made us all sit on a bench putting DF and Alun in the middle and DM and me on the outsides. They were given the basketball to hold and we had to stretch our arms up holding the pom pom while he clicked away!

We then headed down Sunset Boulevard towards the Tower of Terror which I love, the themeing inside the hotel is great and the way the CM’s act! We stopped for some more PhotoPass pics along here and then decided we’d fastpass Tower of Terror for later so we picked up 4 fastpasses. Then we decided to have a look how long the stand by queue was…

We walked up and around the corner to the entrance and joined the queue, I can’t remember how long the wait time was but they were queuing outside so it was fairly long. It seemed to move quickly luckily as today was turning into a hot one! We were soon inside the hotel and sent into the lift towards………………the twilight zone!!

At first, Alun thought that this was the lift that we were going to drop in!! The one where they show the little film, can you imagine, it’d be chaos! He soon realised it wasn’t when we had to join the next queue in the basement! In the actual lift, we were sat in the back row and Alun was in the middle seat! We loved it, it seems like it’s changed slightly since last time we went on but I’m not sure in what way!

From here, we decided to head over to Rock n Roller Coaster but the queue was an hour so we thought we’d come back later.

As we headed back over to the hat, we spotted these two familiar faces….



They were signing autographs and posing for photo’s, I would have joined the queue for a picture but the queue was enormous and there was a CM at the back of it and I don’t think she was letting anyone else join the line.

As we were in the area, we decided to go on the Great Movie Ride which I don’t think has changed since the first time I went on it.

We then went to see one of my favourite shows in WDW, Beauty and the Beast! We arrived early and saw the group of 4 men that sing before the show. They really entertained the crowd before the show started and sang quite a few songs, they also called a couple who were on their honeymoon out to the front and serenaded them with 'When You Wish Upon a Star’ and gave them a free copy of their CD.

The show started and I was transfixed for the next half hour or so, or however long it lasts! I think it’s brilliant and love all the songs, it got to be one of my favourite Disney films, here are some of the pics I took….





















After the show, we made our way out and over towards The Magic of Disney’s Animation

Once inside, we listened to the show and I love hearing about how the character’s are created etc, we then walked through the museum area where they have photographs and prints and other interesting things from the films.

We then made our way over towards the Streets of America and posed for some pics in New York and then minutes later, in San Francisco





We decided to go on The Studios Backlot Tour, there was a slight queue but we were soon on our way









After this, it was time to head for Hollywood Boulevard for the Block Party Bash Parade which again would be a first for us all! We heard it before we saw it! Music was pumping out from everywhere and the CM’s in the parade were bouncing and jumping about with soooo much energy! I don’t know how they did it! It was so warm that we were stood watching it near the doorway of the shop to feel the air con!

After the parade, we were in need of some food! Off we set, back down Sunset Boulevard in search of turkey legs, Alun went to get them while we waited…..









We then made our way out of the park and eating the turkey legs and stopped for some photo's which are quite amusing...lol





We then headed to Blizzard Beach for what was left of the afternoon!

We arrived at BB at about 3.30pm and it was fairly busy, we parked near the back of the carpark and made our way in..





We dumped the bags and went straight into the main pool! It was lovely! We spent a bit of time in here, also having a PhotoPass pic done....



and then headed to the Lazy River which I love (apart from the freezing cold drips that you pass under lol). At some point, we separated from DF and DM and went on a few of the other rides. We did the Runoff Rapids where we both sat in the same dingy which was a laugh, and then we did the Snow Stormers – not the most elegant to go down – you go down on your stomach, face first!

We didn’t spend long at BB, just enough time to cool down and ride a few rides and then we made our way back to the villa. Tonight, we’d planned to have an early night as we had a (very) early start tomorrow for our hot air balloon ride!

We chilled for a bit at the villa and later on, decided to go to Chili’s for tea to try it out. Again this was another place that had had some great reviews on the Dibb. We all got showered and dressed and made our way out.



Once inside, I immediately liked it. It seemed very relaxed and was bustling! There seemed to be a few locals at the bar, all watching a game of something, football or baseball, I’m not sure! The server went to find us a table so we ordered drinks while we waited. We all had Buds except for my DF the driver!

Not long later, we were seated at one of the booths in the window and handed the menu’s. We decided to go for the nacho’s to share to start but between the 4 of us they didn’t last long, they were lovely though! We then all ordered steak except for Alun who went for the fajitas. He said that they were lovely too.

Our server Chad deserves a mention here too, he was great, funny but not too in your face. He brought a round of drinks over to the table at one point and none of us noticed he had one of the buds on his head until he took it off! Also, while we were waiting for the main meals, and because it had emptied a bit, Chad came to the table and did some magic tricks with a few coins. Don’t have a clue how he did it but he was really nice and deserved his tip that night!::

We left Chili’s and headed back to the villa, it was a later night than we’d planned. We had to be up so early tomorrow for the hot air balloon so more or less as soon as we got in, we got our things ready for the morning and said goodnight. I then collapsed into bed after another busy day and looked forward to tomorrow.

Whoohoo!!! Another day up! Absolutely love your pics hunni! The Photopass photographers seem to like to have fun with the pictures don't they?

Chilis seems really nice as well its another one on our "to do" list!

Can't wait for the next part!

another great day dd7 loved the hsm photopass the block party was so energetic like you said dont know how they keep it up it wasnt so hot for us but still too hot for that energy lol::
