can we take snacks and drinks into the parks?

the food and drink in the disney parks is so expensive we thought we could save some money by taking in picnics. Someone on another less good forum said this wasnt allowed and would be taken off us at the bag check is that right?

No glass, no alcohol and no coolers. Other than that, have at it.

You can take coolers. We've done it many a time. We use soft sided coolers, but I've seen folks with the rolling coolers too. We bring sandwiches, salads, snacks, juice drinks, bottled water, veggies, fruit...all sorts of stuff.

As John said though, no alcohol and no glass containers of any kind. They will take it away from you.

Now, all that applies to WDW parks only. US/IOA and Seaworld used to have signs up saying that no food, drink, coolers, or large backpacks could be brought in. I've not been over there in some time though, so don't know if they've changed. We used to bring our food in a cooler and go back to the car (for Seaworld) to have our lunch.

Carrying your own food and drinks is definitely a cost saving measure but for us it is a health measure as well. Even when we aren't on specific diets, we prefer to have our own food (particularly when we have little ones with us). Reduces the instances of stomach upset.

Yes, we use frozen gel packs and some frozen water (in small bottles) to do that. The frozen water gets used once it thaws, and if you plan it well, it acts as the "chill" for the rest of the food until that is gone.
