      Best starter cruise?

Hi - we're thinking about a cruise, but then we have been for years

Which of the many different cruises would be a good starter one?

We've only taken Disney cruises and only the 7 day ones at that. However, after having taken 3 different flavors of 7 day cruises (Eastern, Western and one special cruise), I can safely say that I wouldn't take one any shorter than that. Even with the 7 day cruises, it seems to me that you no more than get on the ship when you've got to turn around and get off. I can't imagine how I'd feel on a 3 or 4 day cruise. I think I'd be left wondering if I'd even been on the ship at all. Of course, your mileage may vary.

I'm with you, Tom! Those 7 days seem to zip right by, don't they? We've only done the Western Caribbean (Disney, of course) and it was SOOOOO much fun!

      Ive wondered about that too

Is there much more seatime on a 7 day or more land places visited or both?

I worry about how much there is to do on board if the ship is at sea for too long?

The typical 7 day Disney cruise will usually include 2 sea days and the remainder of the days you'll be in one port or another. There's always more than enough to do. From cooking classes, behind the scenes tours, exercise classes, movies, shows, etc. there's more than enough to keep almost anyone busy. It's all outlined on DCL in your "Personal Navigator". That's the newspaper that you get in your cabin each evening listing all the things that are happening on board and ashore the next day.

However, for my money they could spend all their time at sea!

I can't think of much that I enjoy more than a nice deck chair on deck 4 and a good book! Closely followed by one or more of my favorite adult beverages and a good meal or six.

There was SO much to do on board that we couldn't begin to do it all - and go on our shore excursions. We had a wonderful time and the crew had to pry my hands off the railing to get me to leave!
