      Bootcamping Linux

Is it possible to install a linux OS on a MacOSX system using bootcamp?

I'm really wanting to give linux ago, so thought using bootcamp would be the way to go.

Apparently you can but it's not easy. Try installing Ubuntu and check out this article.

      Re: Bootcamping Linux

or you could just try vmware or parallels... much much easier although a few dollars if you choose to buy
      http://www.vmware.com/products/fusio...es.html#c25453

you'll be able to run linux alongside macosx alongside windows, all on the same desktop

      well hmmmm

it depends on your motives for having one really? I mean you have macosx so you have a nice unix machine already with access to great apps. Linux is not as good on the desktop yet (in my opinion) so the question would be, whatcha wanna do with it that you cant do on your mac?

Now.. .if you want to learn linux, how to install it, how to install apps on it and maybe get further into php etc. which would be useful for your web business then yeah! it would be useful for you to know LAMP stuff for sure.

      Re: Bootcamping Linux

Well you already have a unix machine but you can't get "inside" that as much as you could with linux so if that's what you want to do then yes have one.

LOL, I am just really curious as to how they work ect. I'd like to do it just to try it and see if it has any advantages over Windows. Plus it is always going to be advantageous in the long run to know as much as I can if I decide to go into ICT as a career... Still not sure what to do with that
