any villas close to shopping areas?
we're talking about splitting a stay between a villa so we can shop and eat out then with another week on disney for the parks.
is there a villa area that is close enough to shopping and dining areas that it would be possible to do that without driving?
cabs would be ok as long as they didnt cost much to get to the places

Re: any villas close to shopping areas?
Unfortunately, the greater WDW/Orlando/Lake Buena Vista area is not set up for pedestrian traffic. There are very limited areas where you can walk (DTD to Crossroad's is one) safely.
If you are going to stay off property, you will absolutely need to take cabs (and they can be pricey) or need to rent a car.Thank you for being a member of our Secrets Family!!! We are so very pleased to have you with us!

Re: any villas close to shopping areas?
If you could find a villa near the new shopping area on 27, that might work, but again the area is NOT set up for pedestrian traffic. 27 is a fast moving highway and there are any number of accidents along it.
Truly, walking is not much of an option around here.

Re: any villas close to shopping areas?
I can believe that. The number of times we've almost been killed trying to negotiate that road between best buy and the florida mall

Re: any villas close to shopping areas?
It's not something that this area wants broadcast, but there are many people struck by cars and other vehicles and killed while trying to cross major roadways here.
Usually, they are visitors, but not always. I often wonder how horrifying it must be to family to have a member killed on holiday.
I can't imagine that happening, let alone happening in a foreign country.
Eeeesh. What a terrible topic.
Needless to say, be hyper alert while walking in any area without sidewalks.
