      Space Mountain closes for long refurbishment April 19 2009

      Space Mountain is set to begin its expected year long refurbishment on April 19, 2009. It is expected to open late 2009 with no specific date being given so far. During the refurb, the TTA People Mover (nooooooooooooooooo!) will also occasionally be closed for the Space Mountain work to be carried out since the TTA goes through space mountain as part of the ride

      I can live without Space Mountain now - it's an age thing I think it rattles my head too much Hopefully that is what they are changing But really hope the TTA is open when we go

      TBH it badly badly needs a good refurb it does look very 70's in an area that was supposed to represent ' tomorrow'

      I think DLP pulled a masterstroke by going for the Jules Verne look that way it will never look outdated

      Agreed, it is in definite need of some updating...Baleigh and I were on the ride last trip when there was a short malfunction in which we were sat in the "launch tube" for nearly 20 mins. While we sat there, the lights came on and we had a look around...wow...the amount of duct tape being used in that building was SHOCKING...

      It's a shame it will be down for so long..but I think it's necessary

      Duct tape? Now that's scary!! I'm not a SM fan, so no fuss that it's down from me. Would be good to have it brought up to modernity though.
