We went in late May through mid June. While we did run into some rain and cool days, for the most part it was quite an enjoyable, though VERY expensive trip given the exchange rate at that the time (best deal I got was $2.14=£1.00 at M&S). We haven't had a summer here for 3 years now so we are due some good weather at some point - pretty sure it snowed last April
I have to say you are never ever going to have guarenteed weatehr in the UK but you aren't coming here for a beach holiday so it doesn't really matter now does it

They're predicting a scorcher this year but how they can do that when they can't normally get the next 24 hrs correct is beyond me.
