raglan road or the rose and crown?
Which is the better for fish and chips?
We've tried the rose and crown both inside and out and thought it was just ok. Is raglan road much much better?

Re: raglan road or the rose and crown?
We've tried both for fish and chips and prefer R&C.
Had a disappointing meal at Raglan Road recently

Re: raglan road or the rose and crown?
Nope. Don't get the fish and chips at either! Get them at Cooke's of Dublin. It's the take away shop connected to Raglan Road. They cook them nearly to order, so they are hot and fresh for the most part.

Definately don't get the fish and chips at either place! They were so soggy and bland

Raglan Road- get the scallops appetizer and the bread pudding dessert!!
Rose and Crown- I like the cheese platter, the bangers and mash were good and they used to have a stew that was good but I don't think it's on the menu anymore.I am a travel agent with The Magic For Less Travel. Please private message me if you'd like help booking a trip!

Re: raglan road or the rose and crown?
I didn't *hate* the fish and chips from the walk up window at R&C...but they weren't spectacular by any means.
The bread pudding at RR was the best thing I found there...unfortunately, for Jon and I, RR was a case of the atmosphere being better than the food...it's a great "theory" but the "follow through" is lacking.

Re: raglan road or the rose and crown?
Have to agree for the most part, Becca. The atmosphere is what makes Raglan Road. Odd, the very nice pub we have within walking distance of our home has incredible atmosphere, CRIAC at its best, but the food is enough to scare you away.
I know the Irish can cook! We just need to get some of those great cooks into these pubs!
The scallops at Cooke's of Dublin are nice.
I don't care for the batter fried sausages though.
