Home safe and sound!
For those of you who have seen the news about the protests and state of emergency in Bangkok - don't worry! We flew home yesterday and are safe and sound!
We had a bit of a scary moment on Sunday afternoon driving back into Bangkok when we heard the state of emergency had been declared and that they were ordering the army in, complete with tanks! The back entrance to our hotel was blocked and we had to go the "long" way round to get back.
We did have to pass a small area of protesters and tanks!
but we stayed put in the hotel after that and left first thing yesterday. Got home at midnight last night so this is the first chance I've had to post!

Re: Home safe and sound!
Mr Oblivious had his head in his DS the whole time! But yes, the guide and I were quite concerned! I think the guide was more worried than he was letting on! There were lots of mobile calls made in the 2 1/2 hours we took to get back to Bangkok.
We went up to the River Kwai area - terrific experience; very moving and even Mr Oblivious was impressed andmay have even learned something!
