Re: Just back from New Star Trek Movie
Wow, was it a midnight showing Keith?
I have a flexi day booked in for tomorrow and DH is still on the 4 day week so we are going on a date! DH wants to see the movie....I'm not a Star Trek fan but I'm willing to give it a go.....especially if he takes me for a meal afterwards

Re: Just back from New Star Trek Movie
They did very well indeed really given that was always going to be hard.
The effects were excellent including a new funky transporter effect which was good. The control surfaces of the Enterprise have evolved. The original controls always looked SO dated given they're still supposed to be in our future and they did a good job of having new panels that looked futuristic without being all the way to next generation standards. Funny though, there were still radio shack (tandy for those of us old enough) light bulbs around the place for warnings
The scale of the ship itself was well done too! It really seemed massive inside, as it should be.
I think the only character I was so-so about was Scotty. I guess it was an impossible role for someone to live upto but I'm hmmmmmsome about that. Need to watch again

Diane is going tonight and I'm thinking we'll try and go next week.
Were there any guest appearances by the tribbles?

Re: Just back from New Star Trek Movie
It was indeed

Spock was excellent as was Kirk actually. Both had the mannerisms of the original without going too farSpock looks like he has bee portrayed superbly
How did they handle the whle futuristic but retro tech stuff??
There were scattered references to the past and future which all fitted in accurately from what I could see, even down to a mention for Jonathan Archer from Enterprise, now an admiral, and his beagle
