Clearwater
We're looking at spending a couple of days at Clearwater before driving up to Crystal River area.
So far, I have a rough plan on the following....
Dinner Cruise
Evening at Pier 60
Clearwater Aquarium
Dolphin Encounter Cruise
Anything else that we may find interesting at Clearwater? We've never been before. Any suggestions for a hotel?

Re: Clearwater
There is are two museums in St Pete, which are very close to Clearwater. There is the Holocaust Museum and Dali Salivador (I think that's the name). I didn't get to them, but only heard positive things.

Re: Clearwater
I can't recommend anything in Clearwater since it's been about a thousand years since I grew up down there and I know everything has changed. But as far as hotels as concerned, if you want one down on St. Petersburg beach, you might quite like this one:

The Don Cesar
Been around since the 1920's. Delightful place!
Then, if you want to go to Clearwater, you go drive straight up Gulf Boulevard and it will take you there. A little slow due to traffic but you get to do some sightseeing along the way.

Re: Clearwater
We stayed at the Hilton on a 2 day visit last year. It is in a great location right on the beach and just a few yards from the pier. There is a great seafood restaurant just across the road in the marina. The "Sea Screamer" also goes from there. Great for a cruise around the bay then guarenteed dolphin spotting along the coast (about 1 hour for $22) well worth it.

Re: Clearwater
Thanks guys

Unfortunately, we won't be going into St Petes this next trip.
Mark/Mick, can you leave your car at the Hilton hotel and walk to pier 60? What's the pier like at night....entertainment wise?

Re: Clearwater
I`ll be interested to see how you feel about that area after you`ve been Diane.
On our first trip to Florida in 1985, we had booked a 2 centre trip...Orlando and Clearwater. Sadly hurricane Helena flattened areas of St Petersbourg and Clearwater so we never made it.
Some good did come out of it though as we were then giving the option of staying for a second week in Orlando or going to Ft. Lauderdale which we did.
