Re: vaccum cleaners and carpet washers recommendations?
the trouble is we have been through so many of them we just don't know what to get next. . We've had Electrolux, Hoover (that really was rubbish - we only bought it to get free flight tickets to Florida!), Vax, Russell Hobbs, Dyson, Panasonic I think.....can't remember what else!
Either they were all rubbish or we're just very unlucky with vaccums!

Re: vaccum cleaners and carpet washers recommendations?
Well goodness, what are you doing to those poor vacs?
I hear that one should not buy a bagless. Just what I've been told. I have an older upright, but I would love a dyson. They look so nice!
I also have spot clean the "little green machine" from bissel for small spots. Heard nothing but good things about it, but have not used it.
For stairs, I have this little do-dad that is made for stairs and such. Super light and is easy to carry, like a mini vac (but nothing like a dustbuster, which I also have).
Hmmm, with all these vacs, I think my ocd is showing.

Oh, don't even get me started...got those all over the place (purse, car, school bag, home...finally got the pump version for the car, so much easier than those small things)

Re: vaccum cleaners and carpet washers recommendations?
I really don't like our dyson, it's no good at edges, even edges of a rug, it won't pick up unless it is physically run over the crumbs or whatever. i used to have a sebo, brilliant, best at picking up I have ever had with children, mucky husband and various dogs and cats. I have just looked at the Bissell recommendation on earlier answer, think I will order one of those next week on pay day, like the fact we can scotchguard the carpets, they are ruined since I hired a Rug Dr and didnt scotchguard them

Re: vaccum cleaners and carpet washers recommendations?
Dyson has a couple of vacuums that are supposed to work well with pet hair.
I'm in the same boat as Tink--my old vacuum just won't die! Actually two of them--a Hoover and an Oreck. The Oreck was my mother's--love the light weight!
And the one the family gave me is so doggone heavy that I never use the thing! I much prefer separate upright and tank vacuums to onboard tools with the upright. Onboard tools might be okay if it's just a dusting brush or something, but the one I was given is a royal pain to move around! AAAARRRGGGHHHH!
