      Sports around Orlando?

Hi we really fancy trying to see some sporting events next time we're out there. Is there anything going on at the world of sports is it on Disney? If not, does Orlando have american football, baseball, basketball available and how do we find out the seasons for these and what will be on when we're there?

Final sport question, is there anywhere to go 10pin bowling at Disney?

      Re: Sports around Orlando?

The nearest American baseball to Orlando is Tampa (St. Petersburg). The baseball season starts in April and runs to the end of September. The nearest professional football is also Tampa. The football season generally runs from September into January. Basketball starts sometime in the fall and runs until June. There is a professional team in Orlando, known as the Orlando Magic. In early spring (Feb-Mar) the Atlanta Braves use Disney's Wide World of Sports as spring training camp.

There are various events, professional and non-professional that take place at WDW. Additionally they are building a new bowling alley at WDW but I don't think it is scheduled to open until late 2010 or early 2011.

Great info John thanks for that!

Karen, we're thinking of perhaps seeing a basketball game when we're there having been hooked watching Orlando Magic in May. The tickets are surprisingly expensive though

We have been a couple of times to teh World Bowling Center on Canada Ave which is just off International Drive. Prices are great compared to what we pay here in the UK!
