Re: Does anyone here...
it WAS very interesting-.--
There were so many people, and all sorts of people there.
You had to wear a badge with your avatar, so it was really funny meeting the real life person, sometimes they were exactly alike, other times you would have never EVER figured out who it was
The inauguration speech was given by the creator, and then they had 5 or 6 conferences going on at the same time, depending on what you were interested in
They has a lace/leather ball one night, and some of the outfits people came up with were pretty interesting to say the least....

Hahaha, that seems to be the impression a lot of people have about Second Life...probably because, just like a real life city or country, its seedier elements get an awful lot of attention. It's kind of a shame, because the really amazing parts of the virtual world don't get nearly as much as they deserve. (Kind of equivalent to people assuming that just because there's p*rn on the internet, everyone who uses the 'net must be using it for that.) I've found that most people on SL are there to socialize or express a need to be creative.
Check out this video--it's the one I show to anybody who gets the heebie jeebies when I mention Second Life.
Just like anything else computer-related, SL is what you make of it.

In case anyone's innerested, I visited the MouseWorld sim in Second Life today...couldn't resist taking some photos!
That's my avatar in front of Cinderella's Castle, then some well-known scenes from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, and a shot of my avatar on the PeopleMover!
Woot woot, dorkyfun!

Re: Does anyone here...
It really is, I wish I had a thimbleful of that builder's talent...sadly, the guy who built it didn't leave it up, it was only a temporary installation. I would have loved to walk my avatar around inside that artwork!
It just goes to show that Second Life is more than just a "pew-pew I shoot you" game, and it's not a seedy online singles bar either.
