The boy is in year 2 at school. Term 1 in year 2 they study the Victorian era. All the children have to dress in Victorian costume several times during the term. I knew this was coming and thought it would be easy - ragged trousers, flat cap, dirty shirt. See easy.

    No.

My boy wants to be a rich Victorian boy.

What the heck did rich Victorian boys wear?

We have trousers, shirt, waistcoat and cravat already. I guess some white gloves a top hat and a cane might work. But a velvet frock coat would be awesome.

*wonders where to get a velvet frock coat*

    A money belt?

Tom (... just a guess since I'm neither rich nor Victorian!)

Look in second hand stores, Dawn. Maybe you might get lucky and find a velvet blazer from the 70's that might be adapted to become a frock coat?

I'm picturing wide white collared shirt with deep lace cuffs...
